In addition, he has worked as a police officer, SWAT team member and rescue specialist. He is also an award-winning photographer and the author of a children's adventure book. In addition to the Himalayas, his adventures have taken him all over the world to Asia, South America, North America and Africa.

Participants are challenged to build the best water-worthy craft in a limited amount of time, using materials such as cardboard and duct tape.
