Anne Ryder Indiana
Anne Ryder

Anne Ryder is a television journalist, writer, and speaker. Anne is affiliated with NBC in Indianapolis and writes monthly columns for regional and international magazines. Anne's company is Ryder Media LLC.

She is currently writing her first book, based on life changes that happen "in an instant."

Anne has reported from war zones around the world, from Bosnia to the Kosovo-Albanian refugee camps.

She has also interviewed peacemakers, including the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa.

Anne traveled to Calcutta, the only American reporter in more than a decade to be granted a sit-down interview with Mother Teresa. It was the final interview Mother Teresa gave before her death. Anne created and produced "Hope to Tell" and "In an Instant," stories of hope, faith and resilience of the spirit.

She has earned 15 regional Emmy Awards and five national honors, including two Edward R. Murrow awards.

The Governor of Indiana granted Anne the highest citizens award the state bestows.

Indiana University presented Anne with the Doris H. Merritt Service to Nursing Award for her active support of the nursing profession. A medical emergency prompted Anne to step away from 25 years in the fast lane. She left her television anchor job at the top of her career in search of family balance with her daughter, Jennifer, and husband, Kevin.

Anne remains an active community volunteer, focusing her efforts on the homeless, education, cancer and promoting inspirational documentaries and films. A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism, Anne is the recipient of three honorary doctoral degrees.

  • In An Instant - As a journalist, writer and motivational speaker, Anne has discovered that inspirational stories and people lead back to the same basic tenants, regardless of faith orientation.

From Mother Teresa, to the Dalai Lama, to a divorced welfare mother of 12 children who put herself through school and "grew a church from a mustard seed," they share 3 basic principles:
    • They make time for silence or prayer every day.
    • They live in a state of active gratitude.
    • They use pain and loss as a way to grow and connect with others who hurt.
